Rotorua’s Environmental Factors
That being said, Rotorua does have a few environmental factors that sometimes causes this time to vary. This means some homes may see moss or grime creeping back after around 6 or 9 months. Here’s why that happens, and what you can do about it.

These trees release significant amounts of pollen during the warmer months, and that pollen settles on your home’s exterior. Pollen doesn’t just look dusty, it actually feeds organic growth, accelerating the return of mould and lichen. So, while you might not see it straight away, it can be working in the background to make your house dirty faster.
3. Vegetation & Shade Around Your Home
If your home is surrounded by trees, hedges, or dense gardens, you’re more likely to experience regrowth a bit sooner. This is because vegetation blocks airflow and sunlight, keeping walls damper for longer and creating the perfect environment for grime. If your exterior surfaces doesn’t get a lot of direct sun, you may want to consider a more frequent wash cycle.
