Frequently Asked Questions
Roof cleaning vs roof treatment… what’s the difference?
These two services often get lumped together, but they actually do very different jobs. A Roof Clean is all about instant results. We gently remove surface dirt, grime and buildup using our low-pressure system, so your roof looks fresher straight away. It’s a great option if you’re getting ready to paint, sell, or you just want the place looking sharper without having to wait. A Roof Treatment is more of a long game. Instead of blasting growth off, the treatment targets moss, mould and lichen right down at the root. Once applied, it reactivates with rainfall and lets nature do the work over time, gradually washing the roof clean. This helps slow down regrowth, and can add years to the life of your roof, especially important for older roofing materials. Don’t worry, we’ll always recommend what’s genuinely best for your roof. No pressure, no upselling, just honest advice.
When will I notice results from a roof treatment?
Roof treatments aren’t designed to work overnight, and that’s actually intentional. The slower process is much gentler on your roof and avoids unnecessary stress on the surface. How quickly you’ll notice changes depends on a few things: how heavy the moss or lichen is, the time of year, rainfall, and the surrounding environment. In most cases, you’ll see visible improvement over a few months. When you book a free quote, we can give you a realistic idea of what to expect based on your property. Once the roof comes up clean, it usually stays that way for much longer than a standard wash.
Could cleaning damage an older roof or cause leaks?
We get this question a lot, and it’s a fair one. After all, roof repairs aren’t cheap, and that’s exactly why we don’t water blast roofs. Our low-pressure methods are chosen to suit the age and condition of your roof, not fight against it. The goal is protection and maintenance, not pushing things too hard. If we spot any existing issues that could cause problems, we’ll let you know before we start. No surprises, no risks taken.
Can gutter cleaning be done at the same time?
Absolutely. If we’re already up there, it makes sense. Blocked gutters can lead to overflows or water damage if left too long. Let us know when you request your free quote and we can include gutter cleaning at the same time.
Is roof cleaning actually worth it?
For most homeowners, yes. Many of our customers get their roof cleaned or treated every year or two as part of regular maintenance. A clean, well-maintained roof lasts longer, protects the rest of the house, reduces the risk of leaks, and gives your place a noticeable lift in street appeal. More importantly, it can help you avoid much bigger repair bills down the track. Our quotes are always free, clear, and come with no obligation, so you can make an informed call with confidence. If you’re unsure which option suits your roof, just get in touch. We’re always happy to have a look and point you in the right direction.
